Vacation - HERE I COME!!!

I have never been much good at keeping up with a blog. But, the occasion warrants it and may serve as the jumping off point that brings entries with more regularity.
After 2 years and 9 months, my wife is finally finishing school. It has been a long road with many twists and turns, but we are finally closing in on the prize. Sure, there are some loose ends to wrap up and there is the impending return next fall, but we are HERE - NOW. And, HERE is pretty great!
We haven't had a vacation in 3 years. In 2003, we went to New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and Arizona. Most of our time was spent in New Mexico and Utah and culminated with our marriage in Arroyo Seco (north of Taos) at a Soto Zen Buddhist temple. It was a trip of a lifetime, for sure. And then school started ......
Well, after all the missed trips, declinations of invitations, solo-partner running the house, wife working 6 days a week on school .... we have arrived. Friday we leave for North Carolina to camp for a week, with our daughter, in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We will go to Brevard, and pick apples. We will head up to Boone and go to the Mast General Store. We will go trout fishing and take pictures of waterfalls and make hot cocoa under the changing leaves, in the mountain air.
We return in a week for one day. Then we set out again on a cruise to the western Caribbean (Grand Caymans, Cozumel, Belize and Costa Maya). This time just the wife and I are traveling. It will be a great opportunity to reconnect and relax - something desperately needed.
Though you haven't had much reason to come here before, please keep checking. I am committed to doing a better job with blogging.
